    Nadia completed her BA Hons in Politics and IR at the University of Exeter, with a focus on energy policy. She has experience in social policy-related research, campaigns and communications and worked on social welfare campaigns for Citizens Advice Cornwall. As project coordinator her work spans a range of areas, from community engagement to business development to support the UK community energy sector.


    Title: “Decentralised, Relocalised; Economic sustainability in the energy sector – an introduction to Community Energy”


    Synopsis: The talk will discuss: • Energy spend as a drain on local economies and the history of local energy (before centralisation) • Opportunities posed by decentralised renewables – relocalising energy and building resilient economies • The importance of people power – local participation in governance and crowdfunding • Redistributed incomes – social impact (a few case studies from CfR) • How to get involved – setup and management of a community energy enterprise (feasibility and planning, finance, technical asset and company management), and community buy-backs for commercial asset owners.
